Sam Fender has given the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the MVT, which operates to preserve the United Kingdom's small live music spots.

Fender was given the prize on mid-October as his third album the album was chosen as the outstanding release of the past year.

Fender has decided to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the vital role small stages had in his early career.

"I would not have achieved my current career if it wasn't for all the gigs I played around the region, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These venues are renowned, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – roughly one-sixth of the total UK scene.

In the last year, top acts such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its attempts to support the industry, by including a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

He also joined in, raising more than £100,000 on his live tour to assist numerous grassroots venues across the UK.

The money assisted venues that were dealing with imminent closure due to difficulties stemming from water damage, fires and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and sound issues.

Some locations were granted monetary aid in upgrading facilities and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and audiences.

"The idea that funds from shows in big venues backs the independent spots, where it begins for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has said.

The musician is not the first artist to contribute his award prize money to worthy causes.

In the band won the prize in the year 1996 for their release their work, lead singer Cocker stated that the band would contribute their prize money to the organization War Child.

That year, musician she divided her prize among multiple charities, like the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I donated a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they needed better apparatus," Ms Dynamite shared with outlets.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective gave their funds to the youth organization that developed their group, as well as other independent music bodies.

Additionally the 1994 recipients M People gave their prize to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the condition.

"The victory was sufficient," remarked vocalist Small. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the honor. So our victory affected somebody else's life."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust announced it had protected a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by transferring them to public stewardship.

One venue in Southampton and the other in the city were acquired under the community ownership initiative, which is supported by the arts council and music fans who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
